Johnny, for as long as he can remember, has been the small kid from the big family. In elementary school, all the teachers used to be surprised when parent conference time came around and Johnny's parents came in. They assumed, eventually, that he was adopted. When he was little, it really bugged Johnny that this was the way of things. He felt like he didn't fit in with his family, especially at reunions, where everyone was from big to huge. His big brother often teased him for it, and though his parents were nice, they never went out of their way to stop Patrick from doing it.
As he turned 14, and realized he was gay, however, he decided it was an asset to be the skinny kid. More people thought he was cute and this built up his self-esteem. He decided to stay skinny, and when he turned 17, he even decided to get thinner. One night, when his family and Kyle were with him at dinner, he decided to announce it. They were going to notice soon enough when his plate didn't get emptied, after all. He did not get the reaction he expected. In fact, he hardly got any reaction at all. His brother scoffed and made a remark about already being able benchpress him, but his mother and father simply said as long as you're healthy, we don't care what you weigh. Kyle looked concerned and shared a look with Johnny's parents that Johnny did not see.
Johnny decided to not look a gift horse in the mouth and went about eating his dinner.
