Chapter #5

Aura Winters.

by: Scifiwizard Retired Author IconMail Icon
My name is Aura Winters, I'm seven. I'm smaller than most girls, I look a little like a doll. I have auburn hair, like my mom, and green eyes, like my dad. I miss them and my big brother, Tommy so much. He and I are being held by someone called The Agency. I want to get away from here but not without my brother. The people who come to see me said that if I am bad, Tommy will get hurt. They make me watch a television, showing him getting beat up, each time I am bad. I wish I knew where he was so I could save him. I just know that, together, we can get away.

"Help us!" hugging a teddy bear, I thought. "Please... Please someone hear me!"

I seem to know everything about anyone I see as if I had known them all their life. I really don't know how it works or why, it just does. I tried to use it on the people I see here but what I get from them don't make any sense. Its like piecing a puzzle together without a picture to go by.

We had just celebrated Tommy's twelfth birthday before all this started. We had all come to Europe for a vacation but the house, I think it was called a bungalow, was not ready yet. Daddy took us out to find a hotel for the night. We all walked into one hotel, just outside of Rome and walked up to the desk. Dad politely cleared his throat. He was not tall but not short either and he was strong. I think he always dressed fancy....

“May I help you?” asked the clerk, politely.

“Yes, we are vacationing here in your beautiful nation." smiling, dad said. "Unfortunately, our bungalow is not ready yet. We were hoping you had a room available for the four of us tonight.”

The desk clerk looked down at some papers then turned back to dad, smiling. “You’re in luck, sir.” he said. “A gentleman, Mr. Kline, had reserved a two bedroom suite a few weeks ago but canceled at the last minute. He left instructions to give the room to someone who could use it. It‘s paid up until the end of next week”

Dad smiled. “Now, that’s generosity.” he said.

The clerk nodded. “He’s known for that.” he waved to someone behind them. “If you will be kind enough to sign in on the registry, I will have the bellhop carry your bags up.”

Dad signed his name in the book then followed the hotel worker to the elevator, which took them up to the tenth floor.

“This is your room, sir.” politely, the bellhop said.

“Thank you.” handing the teenager a large bill, dad said. “Just leave the bags here, my kids and I can carry them in.”

“Yes, sir.” smiling, the bellhop replied. “Thank you.”

The guy placed the bags down and walked away as dad unlocked the door and walked in with mom right behind him. Tommy and I were in the hall, picking up some of the bags. Just as we got to the door, the whole hall shook, throwing us both to the floor. I looked up and screamed, seeing fire shooting out of the room. I guess it was too much for me because I think I passed out. The last thing I heard was Tommy screaming. “Daddy!”

The next few days after that were horrible. Tommy and I were taken away to a strange, scary place under the ground. They took us in different directions... that was the last time I saw my big brother. I was given a number of shots, they made my head hurt then feel messed up and confused. Those jerks who took us made me learn how how to kill and torture people, form strategies on what I learn from people's minds and find force confessions out of those people they put before me. I wanted to escape, only they have my big brother somewhere in this strange place.

“You will do exactly as you are told.” one man had said. “If you don’t, we will beat your bother until she stops moving. Is that clear, Aura?”

It's been a year since then, I still want to get away but not without my brother.
