Not wanting to set the house on fire with anything too extravagant, Mel decided the best way to introduce you to the family's secret was to simply show you the flame test. Upon igniting it into her hand, you let out a low scream and freaked but not in the way Mel thought you would. "Don't panic, sis!" you yelled, gabbing her hand. "I'll put it out!"
You grabbed a blanket off of the couch and began to 'smother' the flame in Mel's hand, causing her to giggle. "Relax, John, it's okay." she said. "I'm not on fire, I'm a witch and what I showed you was the flame test."
You looked at your sister as if she had lost her mind but then took the blanket away from her hand and watched as the flame burned, seemingly harmlessly in her hand still. "I thought you were... in trouble." you muttered, blushing.
Mel shook her head, remembering your protective nature. "I'm sorry I scared you, bro." she said. "But it's important for me to point out that only the girls in our family can work magic, boys can not." she giggled. "Unless we change you into a girl."
You gave Mel a startled look then looked at the flame again, becoming curious. "Cool." you whispered. "You said that only girls can do this, right?"
Mel nodded. "As far as I understand it, you have the potential but its asleep inside of you." she said. "Becoming a girl will 'wake it up'."
