"John, wait!" yelled Hayley, running out into the hall. "Did you show Mel a flame, as she told me?"
You spun around, summoning your pyrokinetic flame. "You mean this one?" you asked. "I take it all of you have magical powers but its a skill that only blesses girls."
Hayley nodded. "You're right, only girls can work magic." she confirmed. "However, there is a balance..."
"Yes, uncle Jack tried to explain that to me before he died." you said. "I think I understand now why he didn't want me to tell mom when he gave me his science, you want an all girls family."
Hayley paled, hearing you had uncle Jack's unstable science but paled more at the thought you felt threatened by the family secret. "No, John!" she protested, hurt. "That's not it at all!"
"Then explain to me why I'm the only one kept in the dark!" you demanded, angrily.
"You kept us in the dark about your science." said Hayley.
"It was Jack's dying wish for it to be a secret until my thirteenth birthday." you fired back. "What's your excuse?"
Hayley sighed. "We didn't want you to feel threatened in your own home or feel useless, knowing we have power and you don't... not as a boy, anyway."
