(Nio is a relatively small dragon-male that hasn't eaten in 2 weeks. He still sticks to his niceness, but when someone challenges him over a piece of old goat, he knuckles down to get the food. And when i say he is small, i mean that he is about 6.5 feet tall and 16 feet long from head to tail. He is quick on his brain and quite fast.)
I woke up from my dream. I hadn't eaten since the wednessday before last. i was so hungry. But i still follow the code: Be nice to others no matter the curcumstances. There have been times when i almost broke that law by intruding on a married couple who were trying to feed their Hatchling some food. they looked almost as thin as i do. So, I decided to go out on another attempt to find some food. I am pretty much a stray. i don't stay in one place too long. i am always on the move. I keep my senses alert even when i am sleeping. Otherwise, anyone will walk right in my cave and eat me. So, that is the kind of harshness i get daily. I leaped from my cave into the morning sunshine. It was a beautiful day. about five minutes of flying, i came across a female deer. she was scrounging the floor for some grass. this was the oldest and most unforgiving part of the forest. She looked thin and I could tell that she hadn't eaten in almost three days. Though she wasn't looking for food for anyone else but herself. so I decided to hunt her. I silently landed about 30 yards away from her. I stalked stealthily toward her. She didn't expect a thing. I was just about to leap and kill the deer when i felt a huge weight press down on me. It knocked me about fifety feet away. "OOF!" I inhaled the other Dragon's Scent: It was a female, and she was so not in a happy mood.
"You are invading my territory! GET OUT!" She yelled at me.
I looked at her. She wasn't much bigger than I. By now the deer had run away.
"There is no use in attacking me now, since the deer has run away. So neither of us will get it." you said in reply.
"Hmph. Don't get smart with me. I will tear you to shreds!" She growled menacingly. She was brave in the face of danger, i had to admit. but i could tell by her stance that The Young Dragoness wasn't a very experienced fighter. I could destroy her quickly. But i chose not to.
"Maybe, I could help you hunt." I said, trying to be helpfull.
"I don't need your help. Now get out of MY territory!" She took a step closer to me, baring her teeth at you.
"Look, either we can work together and find that deer or we can fight. And trust me on this one, i know from the way you stand in your stance that i can overpower you and dispatch you easily. And i really don't want to kill or severely injure you because it is pointless." you answered back, raising your voice a bit.
She seemed to understand and get that through her head, because she stood down with a snort of contempt.
"Hmgh. Fine, we will work together untill we get that deer, then i have to get back to my clan." She said in a matter of fact tone. though i figured she was really saying: "I hate you for winning, but i will work with you, but you better leave soon!"
But it was a start and I was willing to go with it.
"While i was attacking you, i saw that the deer went that way." She pointed with her head to the southeast of our position." I think we should start there."
she was a little older than you and she was a dragoness. All the more reason to listen to her.
"Ok, lets go." We went off in the direction that the deer ran off in.
After about 23 minutes of tedious searching, we finally found the deer. It was in the paws of another dragon. It was easily four times the size of me. I looked at the dragoness by my side and she and i decided it would be best if we   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
