James was 16 year old extreme conservative. He was one of those who felt all gay people are going to hell, and that women and men should only have traditional roles. Anything that was out side of what he called "moral" was going to get you sent to hell. So when he heard about the Fringe Circus coming to his town he new he had to stop it before it corrupted every one in town. He tried to rally the locals into a frenzy but most of the town, even the other conservatives, thought James was just going over bored and his campaign against Fringe Circus was just some ego trip. So when that failed James decided to take matters in his own hands.
So on the first night of the circus James snuck and planted some stink bombs, spray painted crude messages all over, and did his best to create a mess. But he was caught in the act by the sherif Paul who decide to visit based on gut felling. This was really bad for James because Paul was also his uncle who took him in after James's parents died when he was 8. So James was brought before a judge and the owner of Fringe Circus Simon Fringe. The three of them talked and came to a decision about what to do with James. For the next 6 months James would have to work at Fringe Circus to pay for the damages and to learn respect.
