Seeing the insecure smile on Jamie's face, she knew she'd found the right balance for her justice. Naturally her mind turned towards Ross, whose testimony supporting James helped the judge decide she... SHE was the unfit parent.
Her teeth ground, as her anger flared. The tension in her jaw only easing, as the mirror's image shifted, the dry desert view of the pouting and posing Jamie rippling away. In it's place, she saw the snarling, dominating leer of Ross Campbell. A man used to being obeyed, and commanding. The view retreated, allowing more of his opulent office to fill the scene. He leaned back in his plush leather chair, his short skirted secretary taking notes. His guidelines on professional attire for the secretaries, just on the legal side of harassment.
He was every inch the confident, successful man, master of his own destiny. However, Kelly knew better.... Hell, the whole town knew better. Ross was only there as it was his father's business. Learning the ropes, to inherit the prestige and power of the company.
Ross Campbell Sr., kept a tight rein on the business. Vetting any decision his son made, while maintaining the impression that his role was purely promotional, purely decorative.
Kelly mused about how to rebalance Ross' karma. She would never destroy his life, her own recovery too recent for her to consider something as cruel as to make Ross suffer. However, he did need to learn some lesson. Whatever happened to him, she needed to know that on some level he'd be happier, that he'd be a better person.
