She was taking their 14-year old daughter Rachel with her.
It just made him so mad. He loved his family, but his ex-wife could be such a bitch sometimes, just too controlling. She made it almost impossible to be married to her. Yet, he loved her anyway. If only there was a way to get his family back and make things how they were at the beginning, back when Maggie wasn't such a controlling bitch.

One day, later that week, George was testing some software for his automotive company when something very odd flashed across the computer screen.

"What the hell?"
Of course, he thought it was just a joke, but later that day, he made a comment to someone at the company that he was getting a raise, just a joke, as he really wasn't (although he really did want one), and it happened! His supervisor gave him a raise just a few minutes later. Thinking that there might have been something to this reality altering thing, he decided to use it for something he wanted more than anything: to fix his family.
So based on that experience he was sure that the next wish could bring him his family back. He was concentrating on what he remembered when his relation to Maggie was still intact and they enjoyed time with Rachel here in California and the long sandy beaches where the wheatear was always fine… Then he made his wish: “I wish I could get close to my wife and daughter again”
