Well, let's start off with the first two female characters that the series introduces.

~ Lum
A green-haired girl with two tiny horns, that almost always wears a tiger-stripe bikini. She can fly, and shoot out electrical blasts at will.
If you have not gotten it yet, she is an alien. In this sort of scenario we can use this trait to our advantage, since she will one day have to assimilate to the Earth permanently, and since floating would burn less calories than walking, these things will eventually compound into increased girth.

~ Shinobu
Ataru Moroboshi's original girlfriend, and unofficially the strongest woman on earth. There is an actual chapter in which she shows that she's predisposed to gaining weight. Let's just expand on that, shall we?
