You're a bit taken aback by the offer, but there's just no way you can just turn down the offer of a full-ride scholarship. Thus, you make your way back to Rosa's desk and state your intent. She smiles her corporate smile once more.
"Wonderful!" she says. "I'll start filling out your admission paperwork immediately. In the meantime, just have a seat over there and you can get started on your placement exam."
You blink.
"What, right now? Like, right now, now?"
"Of course," she says, handing you a stack of paper and a pencil. Seeing the look on your face, she smiles reassuringly.
"Oh, don't worry, it's not that kind of exam," she says. "These questions are simply designed to help us see how best to help you integrate into the university community. There are no 'right' or 'wrong' answers; just choose the option that best describes your response to each situation."
Flipping through the packet, you see that she's right—it's more like a personality test than a real exam. More confident now, you turn to the first question:
Question 1: Imagine you walk into class one day, only to have the professor hand you a test for which you have not prepared! You've done all of the reading but this is an important exam and you haven't reviewed at all. How do you score?
"A.) I'll do well enough to keep from failing out—…hopefully." "B.) Is it an oral exam? I'm better with presentations than written tests." "C.) I haven't gotten anything lower than an A- since middle school! I'll pass with flying colors."
