As you pour yourself a drink in the kitchen you can hear footsteps walking down the stairs you peer over your shoulder to see your mum enter the room yawning as she raises her hand and waves "morning" she says in a groggy tone "morning" you and Emma say in unison as you both turn around your jaws drop sitting nestled in your mums hair are a pair of grey furred donkey ears "woah shit am i seeing things?" you mutter still not sure what your seeing, your mum walks into the kitchen and gets herself a drink of water still unaware of her ears "err mum have you looked in a mirror recently?" Emma asks your mum turns around "no why?" she asks feeling confused so you motion her to the living room mirror and as shes sees herself she muffles her scream with her hands "how did i get donkey ears?" she says feeling scared "i..i don't know" you say as you touch them and they twitch at your touch "woah weird" you mumble your mum doesn't know what to do so she puts a towel around her head "don't tell your father or Nick they will freak out if they do find out" so you and Emma nod while your mum sits down to watch TV.
The morning was going by so slow your mum scratching her ears every 5 minutes "Kevin be a dear and go next door quickly for me please" you look up "uh sure why's that?" you ask and she looks at you "please Kev just do it" you only nod and walk towards the house next door "i hope Mrs Anderson is home" you venture up the fairly damp steps and ring her doorbell after a few minutes a young woman answers the door "hi is Mrs Anderson home?" you ask "no sorry i'm her daughter Cassie is there anything i can help you with?" you rub your chin then look at her she is wearing a wooly hat on her head covering her lovely light blue hair which came halfway down her back "yeah my mum woke up about half hour ago with donkey ears and she doesn't know what to do" Cassie giggles "it's natural hun it's something that can't be helped" she pulls her hat off and your eyes go wide as you see her long donkey ears "i started changing about 2 weeks ago give it another week or so and she'll have one of these" she turns around to show a tail swaying gently she steps outside "i can come over and show some support if you'd like" you nod so you both head back to your house.
Back at your house Emma is idly scratching your mums ears keeping her calm as you and Cassie walk inside "mum i couldn't find Mrs Anderson but i found Cassie her daughter she's here to support you" your mum turns around to see Cassie and she sighs with relief "at least i'm not alone" she says as Cassie sits down next to her and starts to hug her.
