Alison walked about as cautiously as she could, but felt a bit exposed out in the open. She headed for the shadows between two of the buildings and then peeked out. She saw Kyle stagger into view, acting as if he were walking against a strong wind, though the air was still.
Without pause she raced out, relief and confusion mixing together. “Kyle,” she said, trying to keep as quiet as she could “what’s going on? Why are you walking like that?”
Kyle turned a face filled with anguish and desire toward Alison. “Run,” he said in a strangled voice, “before she sees you. It’s probably too late for me, but you might escape.”
Alison stopped, speechless for a moment, then rallied “who is she? Why can’t you get away from her?”
“I’m think that would be me,” a sultry voice said from behind Alison. “And you’ll soon understand the answer to your second question.”
The blond whirled and saw the owner of that voice, her mouth hanging open at the sight before her.
