Rina was a peaceful dridder. A GIANT peaceful dridder who stood at an amzing 150 feet tall! Despite her huge size, however, Rina always felt that it was wrong to pick on anyone just because they were smaller than her. She had carved out a fairly good reputation for herself, and many humans came to her for assistance if they were being tailed by a massive predator. Of course, not everyone knew that she was peaceful. There were still plenty of people who had never even heard of her, and as such were incredibly intimidated by her. The human that she was about to meet was one of these.
It all started as an ordinary day. Rina was out hunting for some deer that she could have for dinner. Being the gentle soul that she was, Rina would never eat a human, and deer were just as filling as far as her appetite went. They had become a staple of her diet, as they were fairly common in the woods next to the swamp she lived in.
As Rina was searching for a snack, she saw a plume of smoke poking above the treetops. She immediately recognized it as the smoke from a human's campfire. Rina had lived in this swamp for her entire life, and over that time, she had learned that many other dridders saw the smoke from campfires as a giant sign saying "Eat Me!". She knew that whoever this human was, they were in trouble.
Being the compassionate creature that she was, Rina immediately set out in the direction of the smoke to rescue the human. She eventually came to a large clearing, where she saw a small tent and other camping equipment set up. The one thing that she didn't see, however, was the human camper. Just as she was starting to wonder if she was too late, Rina saw some movement coming from the tent. She carefully picked it up and dumped the human inside of it out onto the palm of her hand.
The young human woman was absolutely terrified, and began to cower in fear. Rina tried to stroke her back with her index finger to calm her down, but the human only got more scared.
"P-please Miss Dridder, don't eat me!"
"Don't worry little human, I'm not going to eat you."
"Then why did you capture me like this?"
"Well, you see... Most dridders aren't as nice as I am. That campfire of yours is basically a signal to tell them where they can find a free meal! Speaking of which..."
Rina then bent down so that her head was only a few inches away from the ground, and proceeded to blow out the campfire like a birthday candle.
"There, that's much better. Now anyone who saw that smoke will know that someone else already got to you. By the way, my name is Rina."
"Ummm... Thanks, I guess... My name is Elisa."
"Nice to meet you, Elisa!"
Rina then extended her index finger down for a 'handshake'. Elisa grabbed it and returned the gesture.
"So Miss Rina, if you don't mind me asking... Why did you help me? Don't most dridders eat humans?"
"Oh, you can just call me Rina. Well, to answer your question, yes... Most dridders do eat humans. Personally, I never really saw what was so enjoyable about it. After all, it would be cruel to take the life of another sentient being just for a snack! Your species doesn't taste that good either..."
"You mean that you have eaten a human before?!"
"Oh, no! I've tasted one out of curiosity once, but I've never actually eaten one. Please don't be afraid..."
"Well... Alright... So Rina, what are you going to do with me now?"
"I was thinking that I would just let you go on your way, but you're welcome to come with me to visit my home if you want... I always enjoy making new friends!"
"Hmmm... Well... I think that I'd like to..." indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
