Chapter #5Becoming Sakura by: Triage Naruto quickly returned Sakura's clothes to her body, and after a moment of deliberation, inhaled the air from the tank. Naruto resisted the urge to shudder as his body and mind changed in a way it was not meant to. Weight shifted, bones changed shape, and something alien filled his mind. Naruto clutched his head as what felt like the worst Shadow Clone dispelling filled his head, suddenly struck by everything that Sakura ever was and would be. Her friendship with Ino, her crush on Sasuke, her annoyance with Naruto, her love for her family... it was all in there. But it was more than just her personal history. It was Sakura's perfect memory and recall. It was Sakura's perfect chakra control. It was all the knowledge and talent that had earned Sakura the top female grade in a class with two clan heiresses competing with her for it.
Naruto-as-Sakura grinned as her newly advantaged mind took all this in in but a moment. Naruto took a moment to form a one handed Rasengan, and was delighted to have it appear easily and near instantly. Shrinking it, then enlarging it, Naruto again delighted in her new-found chakra control as she took in the responsiveness her favorite technique showed. Naruto then attempted a summoning, only to be disappointed as the technique failed to take. She reasoned it was because for all intents and purposes, she was Sakura, not Naruto. Still, it was no great loss. It was rare that she would need to smack down a full manifested Tailed Beast she reasoned. Running through the rest of the combined Naruto and Sakura technique library, she was pleased the the Shadow Clone continued to work, her personal variant of the Transformation still worked, and thanks to Sakura, Naruto now had access to the Illusion Clone and the Illusion Transformation. Finally, Naruto attempted a basic strength test; though she had Sakura's slimmer, less muscled form, she felt as strong as ever. A number of pushups later, Naruto knew that she still had all of her stamina and strength.
Naruto giggled with glee and did a small twirl on the spot. Infinite Chakra and Perfect Control! This was the greatest thing ever! Peering from behind her eyelashes at the air tank that had caused this all, Naruto quickly considered how to best keep it safe. Deciding that it would be best to keep it on her person, Naruto considered how the Sakura suit seemed to correct differences in shape. Peeling back the mouth of her new skin required the application of chakra and the distinct desire to separate from the skin, but an opening for the tank was easy to make in the end. Naruto marveled at the fact that once the Sakura suit was back in place, it was impossible to tell that the tank existed. In fact, Naruto wasn't certain she could detect it herself.
All the better.
Naruto skipped off, considering her plans for the future. As they were, they needed a few adjustments. Naruto now understood that a large deal of the interest in Sasuke was about social status and influence, in addition to genuine admiration. Naruto however, had less interest in such round about ways to power and influence. She was going to the Hokage, believe it! And Naruto was very much still interested in girls, rather than boys. Grinning, Naruto wondered if Ino or Hinata, or both, could be convinced to come around to that kind of thinking.
What also bore consideration was how her skills could improve from here. Between chakra capacity and control, options that were never available to Naruto or Sakura were now well within reach. Illusions, hypnosis and medical techniques were new options Naruto was eager to pursue; the ultimate tricking techniques and the ability to protect and heal her precious people made the often dismissed fields incredibly interesting to Naruto.
And wouldn't you know it, Kurenai Yuhi had offered to tutor her in the Illusion and Hypnotic arts, and Tsunade Senju could definitely be convinced to take on Sakura as an apprentice. Oooh, the possibilities were endless. | Members who added to this interactive story also contributed to these: |
