As Matt made his way to his computer he heard a faint voice. At first he thought he was hearing things, but then it happened again. It sounded like someone was whispering his name. Matt, puzzled, glanced around his room a bit before his eyes fell down to his feet. There, directly in front of him, was some kind of small creature. Matt squatted down to get a closer look and his eyes almost popped out f his head.
“Z-Zach?!” Matt cried, not believing what he was seeing.
“Oww! Not so loud, big brother!” Zach shouted a she covered his ears. Matt’s voice was so unbelievably loud to him. Matt quietly apologized before he gently scooped Zach into his palm and sat down on his bed. He brought his tiny friend up to his face.
“How in the world did this happen?” Matt asks, still shocked that he’s hold his best friend in his hand.
“It must have been that rock I broke!” Zach exclaimed, motioning over to the box that once contained the rock. “I told you it shrinks people!”
“This is unbelievable…we need to get you back to normal. Lets go the that antique store right now and…”
“Wait!” Zach shouted, cutting his older friend off. “Why do we have to do that so soon? I’m not in danger now that you’ve found me, and it’s really awesome at this size!”
“Zach….do you hear what you’re saying? You can’t stay like this! It’s dangerous like that, not fun!”
“It can be fun! Put me on the floor and I’ll show you!”
“What? No! What if I lose…”
“If you don’t put me down I’m going to jump onto your pants and climb down!” the high school student warned, cutting his bro off again.
“Okay, okay!” Matt says, not wanting his friend to accidentally hurt himself. Zach balances himself on his brother’s palm as it slowly descends to the rugged floor. Once it’s low enough, he jumps off and immediately races for Matt’s left foot. Before Matt can even notice, Zach leaps against his brother’s cotton-covered foot and burrows his face into the fabric. Matt almost gapes as he watches Zach take deep breaths of his sweaty socks.
“Um…Zach…what are you doing?” Matt asks. He is so surprised by his brother’s actions that those are the only words he can muster.
“What does it look like I’m doing?” he replies, taking his face out of the sock. His youthful face is covered with sock lint, but it doesn’t seem to bother him. “I’m doing exactly the thing we always write about! Your feet smell terrible, by the way. “ Despite his words, Zach pushes his face back into the sock to get another smell. He seems to like the terrible odor.
“Zach…this isn’t a story.” Matt says, trying to talk some sense into his friend. Instead of listening to his elder bro, Zach grabs handfuls of the sock and begins to pull with all his strength. Despite his size, Matt can feel his sock slowly inching off his foot. At this rate it’ll take all day to come off, however, and something inside Matt makes him reach down and tug the garment right off. Once the bare foot is exposed, Zach dives between two of Matt’s toes and starts snorting up the toe jam. The giant Matt gasps in surprise as he feels the odd sensation between his toes. “Aren’t you going a bit far?”
“Don’t you like it?” asks Zach’s muffled voice. Whether he heard him or not, Matt defiantly feels when Zach starts lapping up the toe gunk. He gasps again and bites his lip. He didn’t want to say it out loud, but it DID feel kind of good…
While Matt was trying to decide whether he liked this or not, he suddenly looked down to find Zach gone. He looks around the floor thinking Zach had run off, but is corrected when he feels something wet brush against his sole. Zach had crawled underneath his foot and started licking his sole! Matt pivots his foot onto his heel and spots his brother lying on his back. The hyper boy is soon back on his feet and hugging the giant foot. Matt feels him start to lick again and shudders at the feeling.
“Zach…we should really get you some help…” Matt mutters weakly.
“Just a while longer! Please!” Zach begs as he snuggles up against Matt’s foot. The twenty-year-old just stares down at the shrunken boy for a moment before making a decision.
