Darkness.
His life, was darkness and pain. Ever since his defeat by Sonic and that damned ...wolf? For some reason, he kept seeing different creatures whenever he tried to remember him. No matter. Ever since his defeat, Eggman had been using him as a slave power source to his machines. He could barely remember who he was, barely remember that he existed.
All he knew was that he wanted revenge. On EVERYTHING.
One day, he became vaguely aware of a fight brewing between Sonic and Eggman. Trapped within the machine, he couldn't call out. He prayed they both destroyed each other, or at least destroyed the machine so he could just die. Instead, something else happened.
He was freed.
Eggman stared at Infinite as he collapsed to the ground. "Oooooh crap..."
"Was wondering what happened to you," Sonic said. "Geez, Eggman. Harsh punishment much?"
Infinite growled. "Hate... HATE..." he said, slowly picking himself up.
"Easy, Infinite," Sonic said, trying to placate him. "I know you're mad at Eggy for putting you in that machine like you were a Duracell or something, but..."
"Hate... you ALL!" Infinite declared. He felt his power returning rapidly. Sonic backed away, nervous. Eggman had already fled, and Infinite, when he was calmer, would later acknowledge the doctor's intelligence.
Infinite screamed, the power of the Phantom Ruby radiating around him. His mask, broken from the muzzle down, glowed as he channeled all his hatred and fury into it, wanting to tear Sonic... Light blinded him. And when the light returned, everything was different. He found himself in a jungle, far from civilizaiton. He reached out with the powers of the Phantom Ruby... things felt oddly different. As if several different continuities had been smushed together.
The words 'pre-reboot Archie, post-reboot Archie, IDW, Boom, game universes combined' flashed through his head. Nonsense phrases that had no meaning to him, although he felt that each nonsense phrase meant a different reality. "Five... no, six realities merged into one... Did I do this?"
He reached out with his powers again, powers that had seemingly expanded beyond anything he'd ever had before. He felt that everyone in each reality... believed that it had always been this way. All the realms, each merged into one. Infinite stroked his chin thoughtfully, considering this... and decided it didn't matter.
"No matter how many universes are combined, every last person in it will feel my wrath. Sonic, Eggman, all their allies, even incidental people, I will unleash my Infinite fury on them both!" Infinite declared. A vicious laugh escaped him as he flew off into the distance to make his next move.
