Panting and sweating, Jose reached the office building. He crossed the lobby slowly, but saw several people milling about in front of the elevators, where a small signboard had been set up. As he got close, he saw that the sign said, "Elevators closed for maintenance."

"Aw heck," Jose said out loud.

"Jose, come over here," a voice said from the left, and Jose turned his head to see...
