The bell over the front door tinkled, and Tom hurried through the double doors, using the front edge of his massive gut to open them as usual, leaving his hands free to carry the trays of sweet bliss out to the display counters.
Not that he needed to have hurried - his front counter staff were efficient and courteous, but he liked to keep an eye on the 'front end' - and many of his customers liked to see him and hail him by name.
Through the door, Ivan grabbed both trays from him, neatly slotting the petit fours into their place in the iced counter, and the cream puffs into their slot in the refrigerated counter. Ivan was a wonder - coordinated, friendly, and very, very attractive - and Tom was glad to have hired him. Ivan's quickness, despite his own substantial size, saved Tom a lot of steps, and as Tom's weight had climbed substantially past the 600 mark, steps were something he found more and more tiring to do.
Looking out over the counter, he spotted one of his favourite customers, someone who had been buying his sweet confections from the beginning, and whose size reflected a very sweet tooth.
