a long way down.

you notice that at your current height, just making a clean jump would mean certain death, so you try to find a piece of string. upon grabbing it, you tie it around you. then you tie the other end to a small nail sticking out of the top of the stairs. you then begin to scale down the step. you made it, down one step. you then look down to realize that there are a good 10-20 steps to go.

you sit on the step thinking on what to do next, when you see your mother. you hope she's headed up stairs, is she?
