Fiona, Alison, and Mira –the girl Fiona didn’t know- kept silent as the two centaurs took them farther from the village, quietly fearing what Lustreign had in store for them. Lucy however was not so timid, she kept demanding to be released, complained about how bumpy the trip was, and so forth until the centaur that held her to stop and stuff a fistful of leaves in Lucy’s mouth to silence her. “I hope whatever Lustreign does to this one keeps her quiet.” The centaur grumbled as she and her companion resumed their journey.
The moon had risen high above the trees when they arrived at their destination. Fiona marveled at the great stone fortress that loomed above them on a mountainside overlooking the almost as grand centaur city.
After entering the castle, the centaurs took the four girls to a dark room and tossed them in, not bothering to untie them or take the leaves out of Lucy’s mouth, much to everyone else’s relief.
“What do you think is going to happen to us?” Alison asked.
“Let’s not think of that.” Mira replied, trying to sound calm. Lucy tried to say something, but all that came through the leaves were muffled grunts and growls.
The girls didn’t know how much time had passed when the door to the room opened and Lustreign entered. “Welcome girls. I hope you’re not too uncomfortable.” She said with a tone of both mockery and sincerity. With a muttered spell from her lips the ropes binding the girls disappeared.
“What are you going to do to us?” Alison asked timidly, trying not sound demanding.
Lustreign did notice Alison’s unfeigned fearfulness and smiled, enjoying the terror she inspired in the human. “I suppose it would do no harm to me to tell you… I have some very special plans for one of you, plans which I’ll be keeping to myself. As for the other three, you’ll be my personal slaves, serving my every whim.”
There was a spitting sound before Lucy shouted, “What? How dare you kidnap me then plan to make me your slave. I’ll tell my father, then you’ll be sorry!” obviously she managed to get the leaves out of her mouth.
Lustreign glared for a moment at Lucy. “Actually, I think I’ll keep two of you as slaves, one for my original plan, and another for something else special. But to best decide which of you gets which fate, I’ll need to see what you can do.”
