"I'm sorry, but there's not much we can do," the doctor said as Riley and her mom looked at the X-Ray of her foot. It was clear that she had injured it pretty badly, which confined her to a boot currently to help with the pain of her healing bones in her foot.
"So you're saying that I can't be cleared to play?" Riley said in disbelief, feeling somewhat sad.
"Not right now. Unfortunately, until your foot heals up, we cannot clear you because it will make you injured even more," the doctor said to young Riley.
"How long will she be out for?" Her mother asked.
"Well with this, it is hard to tell, but definitely eight more weeks or so. Then it depends on how her health is by that point," the doctor said
"Eight weeks? What do I do for that time?" Riley asked in agony as she didn't have an idea what life without hockey was like.
"Riley, sweetie, we will think of something. I'm so sorry, honey," Riley's mom said.
From here, they finished up the finals things they needed to clear with the doctor, and then Riley began to walk out of the office with her mother. Unfortunately, Riley was going to need to find a few hobby in the meantime until she even had a chance to play again.
