Violet is laying in her bed, anxiously waiting for her first day of high school. She can't stop thinking of all the new things high school will bring to her, but the one thing she's most excited for are the cute boys that she might encounter. Violet's alarm clock goes off, jolting her from her non-slumber. I sure hope I can make it through the first day of school without passing out, Violet says to herself as she stretches out of bed. Violet stands up and looks at herself in the body-length mirror hanging from her door. Her body is mostly skin and bone, with each of her cartoonishly thin limbs. The only bit of meat on her is some muscle, nothing extreme, but enough to make her out to be an avid gym-goer. Violet heads to the bathroom to do her hair and makeup, but someone is in there with the door locked. Violet hears muffled shouts of anger coming from within.
"This scale is broken! 250 can't be right!" says Helen, Violet's mom. Helen exits the bathroom, looking slightly embarrassed, her gut jiggling as she passes by. "I guess your powers can only do so much," Violet remarks. Helen is too caught up in her thoughts to hear Violet. Violet goes into the bathroom, and steps on the scale out of intrigue. The scale reads 79. I guess I need to work on that a little bit, Violet says to herself as she puts her hands around her minuscule waist. Violet prepares for school by doing her hair and makeup, then goes back into her room to change. Violet puts on a black crop top with a pair of tattered black skinny jeans. The outfit conforms to her body, but Violet doesn't really have any assets to show off.
Violet heads out of her house and goes straight to the bus stop, not even thinking twice about breakfast. She overhears some of the girls at her bus stop talking about sports they plan on trying out for.
"I'm joining the volleyball team, just so I can tease all of the guys with my tight ass in those short shorts."
"Yeah, volleyball's not really my thing, I think I'm more of a softball kind of girl. I hear the team goes out for ice cream after every game!"
The bus arrives shortly, and every one gets on and finds their seat. Violet goes to sit down next to a cute blonde guy, but he sets his backpack where Violet would sit. Violet finds an empty seat and quietly stares out the window.
I need to join a sport if I want guys to notice me, tons of guys go to events for stuff like that. Volleyball and softball both sound pretty nice, but I'll wait until I get to school to see if there are any other sports I could join, Violet thinks, as the bus comes to a stop. Violet heads into the high school, and quickly finds a cork board detailing try-outs for different sports. She finds the papers for volleyball and softball, and the only other sport to catch her eye is soccer. All of the try-outs for the sports are this Friday, that's tomorrow! Violet takes down the info for all of them, but knows she can only choose one. The rest of Violet's day is presentations and such welcoming new students to the school. Nothing eventful happens, and no one really notices her, almost as if she's invisible.
