You take a moment to sit down, placing your long-awaited invention on the desk and looking at it with a sense of awe and accomplishment. For 2 years, you had designed, constructed, tested, retested, scrapped, reworked, theorized, and driven yourself to the point of exhaustion. And now those two years had finally been met with a device that you knew would change the entire course of your life. You had tested it a couple of times each way, but nothing much for fear of unintended side effects. Nothingwas wrong with the device, so you knew you would have full control over it when you used it.
The nanites the ray would place in the body allowed the ray to do its work and helped the body along. They also acted as a remote, able to control your size according to your whims if you wanted to change. The ray itself would only store a few charges, but the nanites were fueled by solar energy collected in your outer cells. It was, in a word, flawless, or so your eager ego told you.
Now, you pick up the device and ready it for activation. Suddenly, you ponder something. You know you want to shrink with this device, but where do you want to be when you become smaller?
