Apparently the hunters decided to cheat you on your head start, because an arrow flies past your head and lodges itself in a tree. You quickly scramble up the nearest tree and pray that whoever was coming, that they didn't look up.
You hear the rustling of twigs and earth on the ground as the hunter comes closer. From your perch you see it is another cobra. Not nearly as huge as the empress, but still at least three times your size. She has a quiver full of arrows across her back, and a longbow in her hands. She stops just below you, smelling the air with her tongue.
"I know you are here." She hisses. Her eyes flash red with hunger. "You better pray I don't find you firsssssst, because if I do, you're my dinner."
You draw your knife, preparing to attack her from above. You had to be quick, or else you were finished. You spring from your perch, jumping on the huge snake. She lets out a yelp of surprise as your impact forces her flat on the ground, you on her back.
You raise your knife, preparing to bury it in her skull. But she flings her long tail around and wraps it around your neck. You clutch at the tightening coils as she gets back up. She twists around and stares at you for a moment, desperatley trying to escape her grip.
You stab at the coils around your neck, but her scales are like armor, the knife doesn't do anything. Her tongue darts out of her mouth as she grins, savoring your fear.
She opens her mouth wide, enough to swallow you whole. She slowly brings you toward her gaping jaws. Then, out of desperation, when you are close enough to her face, you stab her in the eye.
She lets out a scream of pain, and her tail releases you. You waste no time running away as she held her eye, screaming and cursing.
After what seemed like forever, night falls. You find the mouth of a cave in the side of a mountain, and sit there, resting after the long day you've had. Somehow, you survived day one. Two to go. You lean against the cave wall and begin to dose off when.......
