Chapter #3So Sick by: Amme "Put me down! Stoppit, Inuyasha!" Shippou cried, as Inuyasha was giving him yet another noogie.
"Say it, Shippou!" Inuyasha said with a grin, asserting his dominance over the smaller male. "Say uncle!"
"N-Noooooo!" Shippou said in defiance.
"Inuyasha!" A voice called in, "Sit, boy!" It then said. Within a matter of seconds, Inuyasha slammed into the ground as he always did. Little Shippou was free, and hopped over to the master's side.
"Ow, dammit Kagome, I was just having a little fun with the guy!" Inuyasha groaned as he got back to his feet.
"Picking on people smaller and weaker than you is by no means fun!" She said back, scolding the half-demon. Shippou, peeking out from behind Kagome's legs, stuck his tongue out.
"Yeah, yeah, I wouldn't expect a woman to get how real men bond." Inuyasha replied, brushing her words right off.
Kagome, shot-tempered in these situations, issued another "Sit!", thus slamming Inuyasha to the ground once more.
"Ow! What did I say!?" Inuyasha barked, although this time, Kagome merely walked away. Shippou, as well, had also wandered off.
--------------------------------------------
As the young fox boy sat in a tree, Kagome's words echoed through his head.
". . . Someone as smaller and weaker than you . . ."
". . . Smaller and weaker . . ."
". . . Small . . . Weak . . .
Shippou knew he was smaller and weaker than Inuyasha. He had no problem admitting that. However, when he thought about, it, he actualy WAS the smallest and weakest person in his group of friends. The only person smaller than him was Kirara, and even she could morph into something much larger, and far stronger than Shippou was. It started to bring the little fox boy down. All he could manage to think was how small and pathetic he was.
At this point, Shippou felt like he was a burden unto his friends. He hopped down sorrowfully from the tree, and started to wander off. As he did, there was a sudden trill from behind him. Shippou turned, and saw Kirara there, gazing at him with wide, questioning eyes.
"I'm just going for a walk, girl, okay?" Shippou said, walking over, and petting Kirara's head. She hopped along, following Shippou. "No! You have to stay here with the others!" Shippou insisted, gently nudging Kirara back to camp. She fought it for a bit, but then turned once more to Shippou. As she trilled again, she tilted her head, looking at Shippou. "Don't worry about me, okay?" He asked her, "I promise I'll come back okay!" He said, his former sadness becoming determination.
Shippou set out, walking far and wide. Things were kind of relaxing on his own. He felt strong and independent, as if no one could stop him. Of course, he didn't think about that too long, since it would depress him, since pretty much ANYONE could stop him.
Before he knew it, he was poking around the bottom of the mountains, enjoying a little exploring. As he did, he soon happened upon a hot spring.
"Wow! Lookit this!" He said rather loudly to himself, looking at the steam as it rose from the hot pool. "This is so cool!" Shippou inhaled the fumes from the pool, and instantly, he felt as if he could jump over the mountain! It was amazing... Just imagine how he'd feel if he actually bathed in it! indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
