Sota sighed as he walked home from school, kicking the occasional pebbles on the sidewalk. There hadn’t been much to do lately, besides just wait for his sister to come home, but of course, what he really wanted was for Inuyasha to come by, like he used to! Though, since Kagome was spending more and more time in the Feudal Era, and less time here, Inuyasha didn’t come very often, or stay for very long when he did!
“This just sucks…” He muttered, walking up to his front door.
But, to Sota’s surprise, as he opened the door and walked into the house, he spotted Inuyasha, screwing with Buyo like he usually did while waiting for Kagome. Sota smiled, yelling, “Hey Inuyasha!”
Inuyasha turned his head, still holding Buyo by his paws, simply replying, “Hey Sota!” He let go of the cat, grunting. “Could you tell Kagome to hurry up? I’ve been waiting here since this morning!”
“Yeah, I’ll go tell her!” Sota answered, already walking up the stairs.
As Sota reached Kagome’s door, he came to a sudden realization. When Kagome was ready, her AND Inuyasha were going to leave. The young boy was about to turn around, wanting to spend some time with Inuyasha downstairs, but his sister came booming through her door, in a slight rush.
Kagome turned her head as she ran down the stairs, yelling, “See you later Sota!”
“Ahhh… Already?” He whispered to himself, disappointed.
Sota began walking down the stairs, at least wanting to say goodbye to his sister and Inuyasha, but stopped right in his tracks when he saw a gleaming piece of… glass? He bent downwards and picked the small shard up, cleaning it off a little before placing it in his pocket.
“Grandpa must’ve broken one of his fake Shikon Jewels!” Sota said, as he reached the bottom of the stairs. “He’s so clumsy sometimes, seriously…”
Sota was sad to see, when he got downstairs, that his sister and Inuaysha were already gone! He sluggishly walked back up the stairs, feeling horribly disappointed as he walked into his room, kicking his shoes off, but leaving his socks on as he jumped onto his bed. He slightly stretched his muscles, and repositioned himself a few times, staring up at the ceiling. What was he going to do for the rest of the day? Sota’s thoughts were cut off as he scratched his leg where his pocket was, feeling a strong, tingly itch. Though, almost a few seconds later, the itching stopped, letting Sota think about what he would do next. He once again stretched and repositioned himself, feeling a little uncomfortable for some reason. Little did the young boy know, his body had absorbed an actual jewel shard, that Kagome had accidentally dropped.
“There isn't that much to do..." Sota muttered, still thinking.
