As she leaves John’s room she mutters to herself “I wish John would eventually just see things my way.” She goes back to the kitchen to clean the last of the dishes from dinner without realizing what she had set in motion. The powers at be within the universe, some beyond her earthly understanding, had heard her and planned to make her request a reality.... eventually.
That night John didn’t bother cleaning up a thing in his room, instead he went to play video games. He started playing a war game but then a few minutes in he didn’t feel at all interested in it. Instead he just started channel surfing, he stopped briefly once or twice on some shows his mom would normally watch. Then he just told himself there wasn’t much on and he decided to go to bed a little early.
