Chapter #4Mom by: Jack Jake heads upstairs to mom's Study Room. There, she is reading through some papers, not taking a moment to look up right away.
Jake cleared his throat as she looks up,
"Afternoon Jake." She smiled at him, "Matt should be in his room if you're looking for him."
"Actually Mrs. C" He replied, "Matt is downstairs, and he found something that I decided to bring up and see if it belonged to you."
Mom looked at him curiously, "What did he find?" She asked. Jake pulled the book out and places it on her desk. Seeing the book, she pales,
"Where did Matt find this book at?" She soon questioned him.
"It was underneath the cushion in the chair." Jake replied.
"Please tell me he didn't read it!" mom pleads. Jake shook his head.
"He didn't. He just laughed it off saying how he thought it was funny that someone in his family had a book like this because as he puts it. "That's nothing but cheap magicians that use rigged cards and hollow boxes.""" Jake replied.
Mom lets out a sigh of relief. "That is great news." Jake soon looks at her "Crap!" she groans, realizing the mistake she made.
"I take it that my guess was right on it being a real Witch book then." Jake smirked.
"Yeah." Mom sighs, "The plan was to save the secret for the eve of Matt's birthday. However since you already figured it out." She gets up
and shuts the door to her study room before looking back at Jake. "I am indeed a Witch Jake. And so is Julie. Sarah will be one soon as well. It's something that runs in the family."
"That is honestly so cool Mrs. C!" Jake grins, "I'm just glad that at least in the case of your family, none of you girls match the stereotypical depiction of a Witch." He chuckled.
Mom giggled, "You would have been lucky when I was younger and some boys found out about witches." She comments. "They would say, "Witches are ugly and green with a pointed hat""
"So I guess that means that if Matt were a girl, *she* would have magic as well." Jake soon asked to which, mom nods,
"As a girl, Matt would have as much magic as any other girl that was born female." She says, "However. While boys lack magic, they are able make use of their own physical strength and resistance they build up by having magic used on them."
"Actually." Jake says, "There is something you're probably not thinking of." He soon says.
Mom looks at him confused, "What am I not thinking of?" indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
