"No questions? Fantastic. We'll move onto Newton's 3rd Law of Motion. The law states that every action causes an equal, yet opposite, reaction. That's the reason that a ball bounces. Unfortunately, we don't have a ball to demonstrate this with, so we will once again turn to Mr. Smith."
Julia steps off of James and peels him off the floor. Without a word, she forms his body into a ball with her hands and displays the result to her students.
"In this form, the force exerted on Mr. Smith will allow him to demonstrate this law better. Now watch carefully class."
She once again lifts Mr. Smith high into the air and drops him onto her desk. His round body bounces off the desk slightly before coming to a stop.
"When Mr. Smith lands on the desk, he exerts a force onto the desk. In turn, the desk exerts the same force back onto his body, pushing him back up into the air. There's one other way to demonstrate this law." the teacher said, before swinging her palm onto James and the desk with a very fast motion. She lifts her hand off of the once again flat James and displayed it to the class.
"As you can see, the palm of my hand is red and a bit sore. The reason my hand is red is because when I hit the desk, the force I generated caused the desk to generate a force back onto my hand. Any questions about the third law?" she asked her students.
There wasn't much of a response from her students, and Julia saw that their attention had drifted from her lecture and had focused onto James' reforming body on her desk. She needed to make sure her students remained focused on the lesson, so she grabbed a stack of papers from near James recovering form and passed them out to the class.
"Good, no questions. I assume that you all understand all three laws. We'll have a quiz just to make sure." The girls groaned, but began to focus on the quiz. With her students distracted, Julia peeled James off of her desk and sat in her chair. What does she decide to do?
