Chapter #1The Beginning by: nemryn Jake Miller was bored. Bored, bored, bored. He was bored at school, bored at home, and bored
everywhere else. His family was always the same, his friends were always the same, and his
classes were always the same. He often wished that things would change. Little did he
know...
One boring day, Jake was walking home when something strange caught his eye. He looked
around, and discovered a scrap of color, almost obscured by a large bush, lying in the ditch
at the side of the road. Intrigued for some reason, Jake moved closer to it, so he gould get
a better look. It was a light blue shoebox, with 'X-39' sloppily scrawled on it in black
marker. Jake knelt down to pull it out of its spot in the bush, and as he touched it, he
felt a strange sense of... rightness. Somehow, he knew that this was what he was looking
for. This was the answer to his boredom. Excitedly, Jake stuffed the box into his backpack
and hurried back to his house.
Once he got home, he ran straight up to his room, ignoring his father's greeting from the
other room. He shut the door to his room, ensuring that his bratty sister wouldn't bother
him while he examined his discovery. Gingerly, he opened the box and dumped its contents
onto his bed. Inside was a strange device, about the size and shape of a TV remote, but a
little lighter. It had three buttons, marked 'Gender', 'Swap', and 'Copy/Paste', as well as
a number of smaller buttons. There was also an illuminated screen, divided into five
sections- 'Body', 'Clothes', 'Mind', 'Life', and 'Other'. Also inside was a small sheet of
paper and a large instruction manual. Jake picked up the paper and read it.
'Congratulations! You are now the proud owner of an X-39 Attribute Alterator, the latest in
alteration technology! The X-39 is an amazing and powerful device, capable of changing
people in a limitless number of ways. And the best part is, they won't even realize it! The
X-39's patented RealityLok(tm) feature ensures that the people you change think they've
always been that way. Only you know the difference!'
Jake grinned. This was an amazing find. He wouldn't be bored now! indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
