Chapter #5

I'm on my way.

"I'll be over in a minute." said Todd, into the phone. "James, I'll call you back when I learn more, okay?"

"Fine by me." said James. "I'll try to get a hold of the others, maybe they discovered something."

Ending the call with James, Todd hung up the phone then moved to go visit the mysterious girl but found himself inside her bedroom before he could touch the handle of his own bedroom door. The girl gave a short scream, he did the same.

"I'm sorry." said Todd, shaken. "Ever since that practice game, weird things have been happening to me, to everyone who was there and I'm guessing you as well."

The girl, shaken as well, shook her head. "I... I can't remember." she said.

Todd sighed then looked about the room for some clues. It seemed to have been a typical bedroom, suited for a little girl of around seven or eight. The walls were painted a light pink, a canopy bed with princess style sheets was against one wall with a vanity/makeup center and dresser against another. The third wall was dominated by stuffed animals and dolls of various types and sizes... "Just your ordinary girl's room." he thought. Then, on the vanity, he spotted a small purse. "May I?" he asked.

The girl nodded and Todd proceeded to dump the purse's contents onto the bed. Among them was a school ID with the girl's photo and name. "You are Sarah Walker." you said, showing her the ID card. "You live here and, since I do not remember ever seeing you, I'm guessing you just recently moved into the area."

Sarah looked at the ID card, curiously. "I am Sarah Walker." she said. "But why can't I remember that?"

Todd thought for a moment. "Whatever happened to us, it knocked us out for a few minutes." he said, finally. "Maybe, because you are a few years younger, you became overwhelmed and lost your memory."

"That makes sense, I guess." said Sarah. "How do I get my memory back, then?"

"In most cases, I have read, memory losses are only temporary." said Todd, trying to be comforting. "Give it some time, maybe it will all come back to you."

Then, from outside Sarah's bedroom door, a kind, feminine voice called, "Sarah, who are you talking to?"

Sarah turned to you, uncertain. "Answer her." you whispered.

"I... I invited a friend over from across the street." replied Sarah, calling back.

The door opened and a tall, attractive woman walked in and smiled, upon seeing you. "Todd, I didn't see you come in." she said, surprised. "What were you two talking about?"

As you looked at the woman, you immediately recognized her as the new appointed coach to the school's soccer team, Miss Kelly Walker. Only you had no idea, at the time, where she lived or that she had a daughter.

"Hello, Miss Walker." you said. "Sarah called me a few minutes ago, upset, I came here to see if I could help."

Kelly turned to Sarah, concerned, then saw her purse, emptied out on the bed. "Sarah, what happened here?"

Sarah teared up a little and Todd jumped in. "Something happened to me and the soccer team during the practice game earlier today." he explained. "Whatever it was, it knocked us all out for a few minutes, you can call and ask anyone on the team, they'll verify my words."

Kelly, looked at Todd, stunned. "Were any of you injured?" she asked.

"Just stunned and and disoriented." replied Todd. "I remembered seeing Sarah in the bleachers, watching the game but I did not know who she was at the time."

"I... I can't seem to remember anything." said Sarah, now crying. "I found his phone number somewhere and called him for help, he... he was nice enough to come over."

Just as Kelly turned to Sarah's dresser, where a pink telephone was resting, a thin black book appeared, which she recognized as her team roster book, holding the names and phone numbers of the team members. "Excuse me a moment." she said.

Kelly walked over to the dresser and opened the rooster book to find a note in James' handwriting. It stated...

"If you need help, call Todd Levague, he's real good."

Kelly sighed. "How many times did I tell those kids not to write in this book?" she muttered. "Oh, well."

She turned to Todd. "May I assume you emptied Sarah's purse to find her ID?" she asked.

"He did." replied Sarah, holding up her school ID. "He did nothing wrong, err, mom?"

Again Kelly sighed. "Yes, I'm your mom." she replied patiently. "I am taking you..." she pointed at Todd. "... and you to the hospital right now, call your family and let them know so they can meet us there."

Todd swallowed. "Yes, ma'am." he said.

Kelly touched his shoulder. "If you are going to be on my team, I have one rule." she said. "If anything bad happens, tell me right away so we can do something about it, okay?"

Todd managed a smile. "Okay... coach."

You have the following choices:

1. At the hospital.

*Pen*
2. James gets a call from Kelly.

*Pen* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
