Out of all the boys on the soccer team, James was the timidest, and probably the shortest and the smallest of all of them. For some unknown reason, unknown to the rest of the team, James’ body had vanished from the soccer field for a moment as time stood still while all the other boys lay unconscious on the turf.
When James woke up, he found himself lying on a large but comfortable bed, surrounded by these large, alien beings. The aliens had big, bald heads and large blue eyes, as they stared intently at the boy, who was completely naked on the bed. One alien held up a sign, which spelled out words in an alien script, which quickly translated into English words which James could understand.
“PLEASE LAY QUIETLY. WE WANT TO STUDY YOUR BODY.” The sign said. “WE WILL NOT HURT YOU.”
James was trembling with fear as a large, strange device lowered from the ceiling and aimed a bright blue light at him. This blue light was emitted directly at him, scanning his body from head to toe. It passed over James’ arms, his head, his chest, his stomach and finally it completely covered each one of James’ skinny, short legs.
In the background, just a few yards away, James saw how a large image of his body was displayed on a massive color display screen, where several of the aliens were studying it carefully. Many lines of text appeared in alien script, pointing arrows at different parts of his body.
Then, it appeared that they were able to view parts of his body on the inside, including his veins, his heart, his skeletal structure, and his muscles. The aliens were especially interested in his muscles, certainly since James was young and short, and since he wasn’t very muscular at all.
Every time the aliens turned to face him and address him, James started to tremble. He was scared beyond belief. He just wanted to go home, or at the very least, back to the soccer field where his friends were. The aliens placed a device on his chest and head, and they became concerned. Then, they brought in the machine which showed the alien text again, and James was able to read the English words when they finally came up after they were translated from the alien language.
“YOU ARE VERY WEAK. WE CAN MAKE YOU MUCH STRONGER. DO YOU APPROVE?” the sign read.
James didn’t know what to do or say. Of course, he would have loved to have more strength. He thought back to all the times he was bullied in school. Then, he remembered all the times he felt too weak to kick the ball hard enough in soccer to score a goal. Other kids who were younger than him were able to kick harder and farther because they were bigger and stronger than him. He always felt like he was being left behind. So, he just nodded his head. He just agreed, not really knowing, or caring at that moment what the consequences of his decision would be. All he knew was that he was given the choice to stay the same, or to become stronger.
“Umm… Yes. YES! I want to be stronger!” he just blurted out.
The aliens looked at one another until they finally seemed to understand. Then, they raised their arms, in what seemed to be a loud cheer. They were happy! Then, they ran to a large console with buttons and levers, and lights started flashing all over and around James. James realized that the aliens were happy and excited to do something which clearly involved James.
The machine with the electronic sign lit up again.
“JUST LAY STILL AND DON’T MOVE. WE WILL NOT HURT YOU.” The sign read once more.
James just calmed down and closed his eyes briefly. Then, he felt some warm touch on both of his legs, at the same time. It was like something small was being surgically implanted inside of both of his legs, right by his quads. The large machine dropped two liquid drops onto his legs, which immediately got absorbed by his body. The same process was repeated in his arms, his abdominals, his pectorals and even by his forehead. The drops of thick, blue liquid contained highly advanced components which allowed the aliens to have direct access to his body. Blue liquid drops were placed on his biceps, his chest, his calves, and other parts of his body.
As James looked over, large diagrams and photos of his entire body showed up on the giant screen, which covered almost half of the spaceship. The aliens were researching and finding out everything about him. As a reward for their research, they had implanted something inside of him, giving them access to his muscles.
“WE OWN AND CONTROL ALL YOUR MUSCLES NOW. WE CAN NOW MAKE YOU STRONGER.” The sign read. “THANK YOU FOR LETTING US STUDY YOU.”
All James could remember next was that he became very sleepy. Obviously, the aliens were doing that since he was wide awake at first. James’ eyes became heavy, and the poor kid dozed off. His head lay still, and he didn’t move his body. Then, his body was teleported back to the soccer field, where he was lowered gently on the green turf.
When James woke up, he was the very last person to regain consciousness. All the other boys were awake already. Nobody had noticed that James had gone missing, either. The boys were all eager to walk or bike home, and James felt the same. He was still groggy and sleepy, but somehow, he remembered that he had spent a few minutes on board an alien spaceship. He didn’t know who or what to say, since almost everyone had left already, and he was all alone. He just got up and walked home.
The only strange thing James had noticed was that he had an alien symbol, consisting of three interlocking circles, etched into the palms of both of his hands. Did this make him an alien as well?
