Stacy strode into her manager's office, ready for her next assignment. Today she wore a light blue sundress made of an elastic fabric which clung to her trim body. She always preferred brighter colours when she was on collections - it helped the client's mood - and she preferred clothing which showed off her shape when she was empty like she was now, but could contain her belly as she filled it. Her hips were broad - good for passing babies through - with shoulders to match. With attractive features, a lovely smile and a friendly demeanour, she was ideally suited to the collections department of Newhost. The clients found her easy to work with, and her body was perfectly suited to hosting.
She absent-mindedly flicked a stray brown hair out of her face as she waited for the boss, Annette Channel, to address her.
The blonde woman put the phone down and looked up at Stacy.
"I'm sorry about that, Stacy. There's always something cropping up."
"Nothing serious, I hope."
"No, just a nuiscance. One of the girls in storage has broken her leg, and we need to offload her cargo until she is better."
"Do you need me to ..."
"Not yet, but maybe. For now I still need you in collections. I have three today, and you get first choice."
The older woman spead three manila folders out on her desk. On the front of each was a written a name, and a small photograph had been paperclipped to each one.
"Job number one is a thirty-five year old single mother who has more children than she can cope with, and now she is pregnant again. Fortunately she has had enough sense to contact us."
"Such a shame she did not have sense to use contraception," the younger woman remarked.
"Perhaps, but I'll remind you not to make comments like that in front of her."
"Of course not."
"I don't think you would, at that. You have a good career ahead of you, and I'd hate to see you spoil it with an indelicate statement like that.You're young, but mistakes aren't easily forgiveable." She pointed to the second folder. "Job number two is a teenage girl who had not been taught about how babies were conceived until her belly started getting bigger. She's having enough trouble getting a good education without having a baby to worry about."
"Job number three," Annette went on, pointing to the appropriate folder, "is a teenage boy who got his girlfriend pregnant. Apparantly he promised to help her however he could, and she dumped him while he carried the baby."
"Poor kids," muttered Stacy.
"That's why we're here," her manager reminded her. "So which one do you want?"  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
