"So, this territory we're going to, this Middle East, its full of Pack Warfare, right?" asked a young member of the team.
"Did you fight during the Rebellion?" Ambassador asked.
"Too young for that," said the young one. "My brother did, but, he um, well, he, well, um..... well...."
"He was killed?" Ambassador asked.
The young one nodded. "He was a Basic Infantry, but he was still brave enough to take on the enemy, and fight for our freedom."
"And you got the Assault genes," Ambassador muttered.
The young Assault-type chuckled nervously. "Yes Ambassador."
"You volunteered for this mission?" asked a Recon-type.
"Yes," the Assault-type said. "I want to walk on the soil, and feel the wind in my face, as much as the next Pack member."
"We all want that," said an older Basic Infantry type. "Listen cub, you just pay attention to what you're told, and you'll be having something to tell your grandpups about."
"That's right," said the other Assault type. "You'll be telling stories about how you helped Supreme Pack Leader pick the perfect location for the packs to settle at, and make yourself out to be the Hero of the whole thing."
"Still, what's the deal with this Middle East place?" the young Assault type asked.
"According to this Internet-thing, this area has a lot of a resource knows as oil," said another Basic Infantry type. "It's what these humans fuel their machines with, in one form or another."
"So, we're going to try to take control of this oil stuff, right?" the young Assault type asked.
"Actually, the United States of America Pack has been fighting a number of religious extremist types in this area," said the Basic Infantry type. "These extremists are so strict in their interpretation of their religious texts that other members of their religion, which can be fairly strict in some groups, to believe them to be way too strict. In fact, these extremists are convinced that they are fighting a Holy War, but everyone else believes them to be insane, among other things."
"So, why are we here?" the young Assault type asked.
"The United States of America Pack has their battle-hardened fighters in this region," said Ambassador. "If we can talk to their Chief Fighter, we might be able to get them to talk to other Chief Fighters, so that our other scouting parties are not attacked."
"What if they attack us by accident?" the young Assault type asked.
"Then we disable their vehicles and disarm them," said the Ambassador. "That's Supreme Pack Leader's Standing Order. We are not to kill any of these humans, if we can help it."
"But, what if they try to kill us?" the young Assault type asked.
"Then we get out of here, and let the rest of the Pack know," said the Ambassador.
"What if it's these Extremists that we end up meeting?"
"In that case, we capture them, and take them to the United States of America Pack's nearby den," said Ambassador. "That sends two messages: that we'd like to be friends, and that we don't want to be enemies. Our personal weapons are on non-lethal settings, at the moment. Besides, even if we lost our personal weapons, we still have our Natural weapons, and, by the looks of things, you could easily fit five of these humans inside of your stomach, although I'd advise that you remove their clothing from them; it seems that some have been known to use hidden claws, and explosives."
"Okay," said the young Assault type. "I was just wondering."
Ambassador smiled. "I just hope this First Contact goes better than that of the Abductors'."
"Got some humans over there," said Pilot. "Want me to land?"
"Do so," said Ambassador. "I wonder which Pack these are of."
