"Thanks, Mrs. Carson, but I couldn't."
Glen's plan had gone pretty well. When Eric came over to watch the game, Glen had just gotten back from the health food store with something that claimed to be an appetite stimulant. He mixed up a batch in some fruit punch and when Eric arrived, he had a big pitcher ready. Glen was such a skinny guy that he just figured they would both drink the stuff. He had told his mother that Eric would be over and suggested that Eric had a healthy appetite.
"Don't be silly, Eric." Glen's mother knew how boys were. After all she had raised five boys. Glen's older brothers had been big and strapping with bottomless appetites. She didn't know what was wrong with her skinny youngest son. He just never had much of an appetite. She would make sure that Glen's friend didn't go hungry in her house. Maybe he'd spend more time with Glen like he used to back in grade school.
"Eat up. I made plenty and I'd hate to throw it away."
Eric drank another glass of punch and nibbled on the plate of brownies. It seemed like he had been eating non-stop since Glen sat him down in the family room.
"Your Mom's a good cook." Eric smiled at Glen and brushed cookie crumbs off his shirt.
Glen nodded. H had watched Eric polish off a wedge of pecan pie with ice cream, then take a wedge of apple and now a plate of brownies put near Eric's chair was empty and Glens mother was offered some more pie.
"Apple or pecan?"
