“There she is!” Someone announces as you enter the building. You look up to see a receptionist. “Ms. Miller, we were almost afraid we’d made the wrong decision hiring you. Glad to see you’re here!”
You open your mouth to protest. “No, I’m-“
“No time for chit-chat. Let’s get you situated.” Standing up, the receptionist leads you into an elevator and, on that floor, over to a cubicle. “You’re Mr. Edison’s secretary, so technically you’re only obligated to follow his requests, but secretaries start out low on the food chain, so don’t be surprised when others expect you to do things for them too. If you want to do well, gaining everyone’s favor is probably your best decision. May I see your phone?”
You blink, trying to take it all in as she gently nudges you into the chair at the desk, and it’s only then that you realize she has your - Steph’s - phone. “Wai-“ You can’t even unlock it!
But then she hands it back to you, smiling. “There we go. The company app has been installed. This way, if someone needs something from you, your phone will automatically update your planner with it. It makes things a lot easier.”
Not sure what else to do, you nod helplessly as she begins to walk away. Where was Steph?
