Your name is Jack Turner and at thirty two, the world has been your oyster. With a degree from a prestigious university, you'd quickly landed a high paying job in finance. You'd worked hard for several years to claw upwards, and you'd reached a point where you could do nearly anything you wanted to. You drove an expensive car, lived in an expensive apartment with a great view. You played golf at exclusive clubs and you slept with beautiful women. For most people, it was a dream life.
The problem was that it was a very lonely life. Your friends weren't what you'd call close. Half of them were sharks who would cut a deal behind your back if it would get them ahead and the other half were too wrapped up in their own lives to be available for much more than casual hanging out. You hadn't had a steady girlfriend since Susan two years ago. She had some of the biggest breasts you'd ever seen and she was amazing in bed but within a year it became obvious that all she wanted was a free ride to the easy life and there was precious little going on between her ears.
And that was when you heard about The Town. They were offering a new life with a new identity and a new family to anyone who moved in and participated in their experiment. This would be your chance to settle down, become a family man or maybe turn over a new leaf. Whatever was waiting for you, it would come with a chance to connect with people in a way you couldn't in your old life.
Sitting down with an older gentleman in a suit, you barely glanced at the paperwork he placed in front of you before dashing your signature on the line. You knew that if you took time to read things you'd only find ways to make excuses and talk your way out of it. No, you knew you wanted this and the only way to go was forward. "So," you asked. "What kind of life am I getting assigned to? Family man? Maybe a teacher or something," you asked, thinking they could make use of your education that way.
"Actually, something a bit different," the older man said. "You're going to become..."
