On your way home from school you notice something on the edge of the sidewalk, as you come closer you recognize it as some sort of universal remote, its a bit dirty and seems like its a bit old but you enjoy tinkering and think you might be able to get it into working condition, these things are expensive.
20 minutes later your back at home fiddling with the buttons checking if any still do anything when you hit the mute button and suddenly the room gets quiet, your sister who had been incessantly chatting on the phone was suddenly silent, you looked over and could see her mouth moving but no sound came out, and she seemed completely unaware of the problem.
You hit mute again and suddenly her voice returned with no notice whatsoever, another hit and she's mute again, once more and her voice was back.
You looked closer at this amazing remote, some of the buttons made more sense now, it wasn't for a TV, it literally could affect people, and probably anything, this was amazing
You looked close at the faded labels on the buttons and can figure out what most mean, body, clothing, age, gender, mind, personality, reality, user, area or effect, most were self explanatory of what they did but a few were a bit confusing, you set out testing some of them slowly on your sister, and then undoing them.
You made her younger, then older, then a boy, back to a girl, changed her clothes, changed her body, traded bodied, traded back, changed her personality and so much more but everything changed back easily.
Your sister looked over at you oddly.
"What's wrong with you Andrew? Why do you keep looking over at me."
"Oh, nothing... sorry." You quickly take the remote and head to your room for some privacy, unaware that the remote had a bad habit of backfiring and causing affects on the user, that they may or may not notice.
