"It's here! It's finally here!" Sam whooped with delight as he ran up the stairs, clutching an envelope that had come in today's mail.
"Really?" Alex poked his head out, knowing exactly what his younger brother was so excited for, as he had been anticipating its delivery for weeks since they clipped the form out of the back of one of their video game magazines and mailed in the order for this awesome-sounding (but obscure) PC Game: "Total Domination". It promised a completely immersive experience like none other with ultimate control over your character, and it only cost five bucks plus shipping, so it seemed like an easy decision.
Alex and Sam both rushed to the PC together, the thirteen year old Sam reaching the desk chair first, while the fifteen-year-old Alex leaned on the back of the chair, watching as Sam put the disk in the drive. Within seconds, the installer came up, and although it only took less than three minutes to install the game, it seemed to be an eternity to the excited boys.
"What are you going to do first?" Sam asked as they waited.
"I don't know," Alex thought. "Maybe try to see how crazy they let us make the character, push the limits of it, ya know?"
"Yeah!" Sam nodded. "Or just go into the nearest town and see how much we can blow up or somethin'!"
DING! The Installer finished, and Sam quickly cleared the window and opened the program. The screen went black for a second, and then came up to a title screen. The words "Total Domination" appeared in big, blocky, almost-pixelated letters. "Uh oh," Alex wondered aloud, "I hope the graphics in the game are better than this."
"It's just a title screen, come on!" Sam said, trying to smile brightly, although the same worry was nagging at the back of his head.
