Before you decide another mutant appears

“That’s a slippery slope you walk down, mon amie.”

You turned at the voice to find a man wearing a long brown coat, and playing with a deck of cards.

“What do you mean?” you asked

“The world don’t trust our kind,” the man said “It’s only a matter of time before they turn on you. Better not to involve yourself in this.”

“Are you advocating for your group?” Quicksilver asked “What’s better?”

“Non, mon amie,” the man replied “Independence over entanglements. Your power shouldn’t belong to anyone but you.”

“How do I do that?” you asked “I don’t have funds or good ways to get them. The government might be my best option.”

“Your choice,” the man replied “Just remember once they get hooks into you, you’ll hurt yourself on the barbs to get them out.”

You paused to consider your options.

“If you choose to go it alone,” the man gave a theatrical swirl of his hand and he was holding a stack of bank notes “I can arrange accommodation.”
