"My powers are well placed to get out of control mutants under control," you said "As well as able to hide mutants in plain sight, allowing them to pass as normal humans, maybe if we can get a group together, we could calm angry or scared mutants before they hurt anyone, take them under our wing."
"That seems like a big task," said Amara "We're just kids, Nathan, how are we supposed to do something this big?"
"I know it seems hard, but I might be the only one who can calm down mutants without them taking me out," you said "Failing that, I can always turn my powers off, and you can attack."
"All right," said Amara "I'll help you."
"Thank you for this, Amara," you said "It means a lot after we've only just me."
"I trust you," said Amara "That's all that matters to me. Let's go."
You headed for the nearest road, Amara following. Your plan was to hitchhike to the nearest city, and start your search for new mutants there. It didn't take you long to flag down a car, and ask where the nearest city was, you were in luck, the man in the car was going to Westchester, a suburban area within New York. You decided to start your search for mutants there. It turned out you weren't very far from Westchester, and the man dropped both of you off in the city centre. The next course of action was more tricky: how to find out where mutants were losing control of their powers and try to help them. The best way, you thought, to do that, would be to ask around. You also had another problem: You had no money. You had taken nothing when you left the island, and couldn't even pay the man who had taken you from the shore to here, how were you supposed to find a room that would take you with no money?
"First things first," you said "We need to find somewhere to sleep."
Amara nodded, and said: "I know just the place."
And to your surprise, lead you into a disused factory area of Westchester. It was cold and dark.
"We can't hole up here," you said "We'll freeze to death in one night."
"I've got higher body temperature," said Amara "If we stay close to each other, I should be able to keep us both warm."
You put the rucksack you had taken with you from the island on the ground in what would be your new home "It'll have to do for now," you said "I just hope I can find a better home for any mutants we take on."
