With no time to continue downward, Ash jumped into the fur lined crater. To say that there was a bit of a smell would be an understatement. Unless you were one of those whose button was inside out(?) it would be difficult indeed to keep perfectly clean. Well, he was only Hiding in the Belly Button, not living in there. Though that would make for a rather silly children's story.
"....Nineteen....Twenty!! Ready or not...." Little Bear paused for a moment. What was the appropriate phrase when someone was hiding on you? He couldn't say 'Here I come' because he was already there.
"...Here comes my hand!"
Ash sat perfectly still. Even though he was farther away he could still hear the rhythmic Thump of the heart somewhere North. He didn't dare look upward but he could hear and sense tree trunk like fingers parting fur as Little Bear searched for him. There was a chance Little Bear did know which direction he went given the number of small giggles he heard come from the cub. Then again, maybe he just might win.
Then a shadow fell over him, this time he did allow himself to look upward. Hovering above his spot was a huge hand/paw. It looked as though he'd lost the game.
