Adam woke in the dream... Jerking upright in the chair. It sat isolated in a spotlight, alone in a void. His hands reached for the sensors, and found them missing. A smile spread across his face, he was awake in the dream in conscious control of a lucid dream.
Concentrating, he summoned a room to give shape to the void. The light spilled diffusely from his spotlight, illuminating a plain wooden floor. It stretched infinitely to fade into the distance. Quickly he summoned walls to give it a deeper reality. The sense of exposure eased, the un-natural expanse of an endless room banished.
His fears babbled at the edges threatening to steal the conscious control for a more instinctual state, a return to the unleashed, uncontrolled, unconscious mind in the dream realm.
He fashioned more of those simple chairs, and they appeared. Clustered around small tables. With only room for three or four to sit around. Frowning as he tried to place where this particular memory came from.
