Even though she was already in third grade, Ali had never really grown out of her picky eater phase. Back in America, whenever her mother made vegetables, she would always turn up her nose and would have to be coaxed into taking even a single bite. Here, though, there were no vegetables; in fact, almost all of the food that Ali had eaten since arriving here were sweets. Pastries, cookies, ice cream, candy, you name it. Her mother sighed. "Okay, if you finish all the food you have before we get to the castle, you can have some more sweets. Okay?"
"Okay!" Satisfied, Ali went back to happily glutting herself on all of the food.
By the time they arrived at the castle, Ali had managed to not only finish the cookie platter, but had even scarfed down one of the cakes her mother had given to Alexis. Both girls were so stuffed with junk food by now that the only thing they wanted to do was lie down for a bit, but they knew they had to make a good first impression.
