Hunter's head was spinning at full-speed! Imagine that! He was a tiger demigod? Wow! Who would have thought that? He couldn't believe this! It seemed like his whole life had changed in just a matter of minutes!
As soon as Hunter reached his house, for a brief moment, he forgot about the encounter with the angel and reality hit him: He realized he needed to deal with his stepfather. Would it be real? Could he change his stepfather and make him perhaps even LIKE him now?
Hunter opened the front door and quietly walked in the living room, knowing not to disturb his stepfather while he was watching the news on TV. The TV was on and his stepfather was sitting in the recliner chair, sipping on a can of beer while munching on a big bag of pretzels while Hunter walked on.
"Ya back from school already?" his stepdad growled.
"Y-y-yessir...." Hunter stuttered, as he walked in the door and quietly made his way to his room.
"Good! You can get the lawnmower and start on the lawn out back! The grass is growing like weeds again and then you can get the rake and take care of all the leaves in the front of the house! When you're all done, you can put everything in a trash back and put it out by the curb for the garbage man to pick up in the mornin'!" his stepdad ordered.
"Wow..." Hunter sighed. "But, I also got homework to do...."
"Ya gotta do what ya gotta do!" his stepdad growled. "A little work will make a man outta ya!"
"Man... I wish you were a little nicer to me..." Hunter whispered. "I wish you stopped giving me so much work to do whenever I came home from school!"
Suddenly, his stepfather blinked and he thought about all the work he had given his stepson.
"Hey! Hunter!"
Hunter came running out of his bedroom.
"Yessir?"
"Ya got a lot of homework for school for tomorrow?"
"Uhmm... Yeah, dad... Uhmm... I gotta write an essay for English and I gotta do math... aside of all the yardwork you gave me to do..." Hunter replied.
"Well... I'm sorry for being so hard on ya, son... Schoolwork comes first! So, forget about the yardwork and do it whenever you got time over the weekend! Do your homework now and we'll worry about the yard on Saturday!" his stepdad said to him.
"Uhhmm... Thanks, dad!" Hunter said, as he ran back to his bedroom and closed the door. He quickly sat down and thought about what had just happened.
"Holy smoke! What luck!!!" he grinned, as Hunter looked at his homework. "No more yardwork for today!!!"
