This choice: Himself, creating a massive muscle boy that could rival his powerful twin • Go Back...Chapter #5Twin Titans of Terror! by: Solan Davy had always been a very bright boy, with an I.Q just shy of the genius range. He got straight A's in school without much trouble and tended to slaughter even his buddy Benny at strategy board games. When it came to problem-solving and logical reasoning there was no one better in the entire Douglas family. Given Davy's admittedly impressive intellect, there are those who would condemn him vociferously for what he did next, but that isn't really fair.
Remember the situation: Davy had just witnessed a stunning transformation which all of his education told him was impossible. His twin brother, the person he was closest to and loved most in the world, had been turned into an immensely muscular super-boy and had immediately started thrashing their oldest brother, acting like a megalomaniac in a roid rage. It was clear no one in the family had even a prayer of stopping the fantastic physical powerhouse Dylan had become and Davy was terrified that Dylan really would kill Justin. Shocked, confused and frightened, the frantic fifteen year-old had thought only of balancing the equation, of introducing an equal and opposite variable which would cancel out his rampaging sibling. He wanted to turn into a real-life superhero and save everyone.
It didn't for one nanosecond occur to Davy to question what psychological effects the ray would have on him.
Davy heard Amber scream his name, but he couldn't answer her. The change was far from painless; every part of his body ached abominably and he felt the sharp prickling of pins and needles all over. The gun slipped out of his nerveless grasp, dropping to the carpeting. His eyes were tightly clenched as he strove silently against the agony. Still the unmistakable sound and feel of his shirt ripping apart and fluttering away from his expanding form pleased and comforted Davy.
When the pain and falling asleep sensation stopped he opened his eyes, only to find everything was blurry. His racing heart sped up even further as he wondered whether a side-effect of the device had further impaired his eye-sight. Then he realized what had happened.
Reaching up with his left hand he removed his black-framed glasses and the world snapped into focus. He could see so clearly now; he estimated he had at least twenty-twenty vision. He would never need these nerdy "extra eyes" again. With considerable pleasure and only one hand David effortlessly crush his glasses into a twisted lump of metal and shattered lenses.
Looking up he found himself the new center of attention. The only one not looking at him was Justin, who had gone entirely limp in Dylan's grasp. His throat was still encircled by his younger brother's hand, but Dylan had dropped his right arm down and Justin's lower body was now sprawled bonelessly across the floor.
While the rest of the family and Jerome stared wide-eyed at David, he and Dylan locked gazes. Not since babyhood had the twins looked so identical: two flaxen-haired, physically perfect paragons of teenage might and muscle.
"D-Davy!" their father stuttered, trying to take control of this insane situation. "Make Dylan let your brother go!"
The only response was a look of utter contempt from both twins. David started toward his father and Amber, Jerome and Debby scrambled to get out of his way.
How dare this pathetic excuse for a man try to tell him what to do, David raged inside! Didn't the idiot understand how much things had changed? He wasn't puny little Davy anymore; he was an iron-muscled Adonis who was undoubtedly one of the strongest men on Earth! He was so physically superior to his stick-figure father that Frank giving him orders was like an ant trying to command a giant.
"Shut up, old man! I could snap you in two like a twig!" David boasted, noting with pride that even his voice had gotten much deeper and more manly.
Frank qualied before the menacing muscle-boy, only increasing David's contempt for him. With one lightning-quick movement David seized the man, jerked him overhead and flung him into the nearest wall. Amber and Debby screamed and rushed to the crumpled, moaning, former head of the family. Jerome, by contrast, turned and sprinted for the front door.
Ignoring all of the insignifcant insects David turned to the only other important person in the room: Dylan.
"You undersand now, don't you, bro?" Dylan asked with a brotherly grin. "You finally get what it means to be strong, to be muscular. We're the ultimate apha males, David! We can do whatever we want, and no one can stop us!"
