Standing up you stretch again saying I'm not gonna turn down a home-cooked meal especially one from your mom she could be a 5-star chef if she wanted to." Laughing a little Eve says back "yea I know what you mean I have to watch it or id be fat with all the food she still cooks too much nowadays since..." you put your hand on her shoulder saying "Its ok." You had known eve since the beginning of the school year and had become fast friends she was actually very shy and had a hard time making friends but you were at worst what could be called a social butterfly and could make friends with anyone. Eve was in 2 or your classes so you ended up sitting next to her in both and after a few days of you trying to get her to open up and talk she finally let down her walls and turns out you both had a lot in common and she took to your easy-going attitude. After a while, she was complaining about how she was struggling with physics and you had offered to help her as best you could.
You had been doing that for almost 2 months when she invited you to go to her house for the first time you arrived and was surprised to meet Margaret she was as sweet a woman as you had ever met but once at the home it was plain to see she was struggling with things around the house you see 6 months before you had met Eve her father had been killed in a car wreck a drunk driver had hit him. They weren't in money troubles but he had been the typical man of the house and did all the work around the house that needed to be done and now that he was gone when things broke she was lost at how to fix them and had been taken advantage of a few times by some less than scrupulous contractors. The first time you got there the garbage disposal was dead and she had 2 light switches that had gone bad as well as a ceiling fan with a bad motor. Thankfully your dad was known as Mr. Handyman and he beat it into your head as you grew up a man isn't a man that can't fix things around his own house it also didn't hurt he was a cheapskate and refused to pay anyone to do anything he could do himself.
Margaret was happy to invite you into her home and gave you one of the best home-cooked meals of your life it pained you to say it but she put your own mother to shame as a cook sitting there feeling fat after eating her amazing meal you noticed her as having problems in the kitchen bringing your plate in you saw that the sink was clogged and she couldn't get the disposal to work offering to help she had said it was nothing but you could tell she was upset she was going to have to call someone again and you had to do a little convincing but she finally relented and let you take a look at it. It took you 20 minutes to get it to work at all but you finally got it to work well enough to unclog the sink. Margaret was ecstatic at that but you told her that it was on its last legs and needed replacing you would be happy to put a new one in for her on Saturday if she wanted. She was understandably suspicious of your offer and had asked you how much it would cost her. you still remember the smile she got when you had said back to her "keep feeding me meals like that and ill fix the world if you want me to." She had got a good laugh at that Later Eve had told you that was the first time she had laughed and smiled like that since her dad had died.
Since then you had ended up at Eve's house every other week helping out around the house and getting some amazing meals. Sudden you are snapped back to reality when Eve says "earth to "your name" anyone home." shaking your head you say "sorry spaced out for a sec." shaking her head she says "your brain as burned out as mine on this crap." pointing to her physic book. laughing you say "Yea I honestly hate this but gotta pass it so ow well let's go get fat on some great food." Heading out you both walk and talk as you go her house was only a mile from campus so it was just as easy to walk. Joking with each other as you went you were teasing Eve about how she had 500 pairs of shoes and only ever wore the same old converses every day. she not missing a beat shot back with " and what would you rather I go barefoot everywhere."
