Judith Clark sighed as her mother fret about in another dusty old pawn shop. The shop offered little in the way of interest other than tacky knickknacks, and old kitsch items that only a desperately lonely grandma would be caught collecting. She found herself almost dying in tears at the sight of a ridiculous gnome set, featuring two gnome statues pointing at each other and sharing a painted heart together. She supposed it was supposed to be a cute gesture or something.
"Oh, and they have just the most fabulous curtain drapes! Do you think we should get them 'Juli'?" Judith's kooky mother Lauren asked, making her daughter sigh and give a lazy "Sure" in response. One of her mother Lauren's weirder hobbies was visiting novelty pawn shops like this, although Judith suspected it was because she was looking for certain vintage, outfits, that couldn't be found easily elsewhere. It was annoying enough that her mother collected all this junk, but now she had to make her stop into one of these dusty old shops on the way to school? Not cool.
As she searched about the isles of picture frames, bogus figurines and lawn decorations, Judith stumbled upon one thing that caught her interest. On a high shelf was a shiny red and blue necklace, with interesting properties. Looking around quickly, Judith stumbled a bit and reached up top, retrieving it among the other trashy merchandise.
It was rather fascinating for Judith, the Necklace shone blue and red, like a ruby and sapphire trinket, but whenever she held onto a certain portion, the entire thing filled up with one color, overtaking the other and making it 'whole'. It was only when she let it go or still that it returned towards it's dual shades.
Judith asked her mother if she could get it, and got an equally inattentive "Uh huh sure Juli.", so Judith simply put it in the basket. Later her mother purchased it with the rest of her tacky items at the counter and they left for home.
