This choice: You begin to gain weight while Ms. Rand loses some • Go Back... You went about the rest of the day without incident, assisting Mr. Summers when he asked for your help and doing other menial tasks. However, what Ms. Rand said and showed you still left you unnerved. Did she really have the power to curse you to become... fat? You shrugged it off and went home.
It was subtle at first. You unnotched your belt one size larger to be more comfortable, then another. You were definitely feeling chubbier and heavier now. Turning to face your bedroom mirror: your trim, well exercised tummy was now a belly pushing out with enough pudge to be a true pouch now. You stepped on the scale: 155 lbs. Not overweight for your height, but about 10 pounds heavier than last time you measured. But you still weren't willing to concede that Heather Rand placed a magic curse on you. That's absurd and ridiculous on the face of it. Magic isn't real. Heather Rand is a crazy old bat, with mental problems. Problems that she let ruin her own life and marriage.
"I'm only putting on a little weight. I'll simply exercise more and start counting my calories," you reassured yourself.
The next day, you walked past Ms. Rand's office on your way to the company cafeteria. She still looked as fat as ever, munching on a donut, or a dozen as she usually does. She looked up at you as you walked by, chuckling to herself, although this time without so much as a snide comment. Strange behavior from her, but you continued on.
You do your due diligence for your diet, and order a salad with light dressing. A moderate amount of calories. If you keep this up, surely you'll lose the added bulges. After work, you make sure to hit the gym. This time, pushing yourself extra hard, to really burn up that fat. You make this your new routine for the next two weeks, sticking to it with all the discipline you used to get through college.
At the end of those two weeks, you look back in the mirror. You don't look that different. In fact, you looked kind of heavier than you did before, your belly jiggled, but now so did your butt and your hips stuck further sideways. Then stepping on the scale, what you saw shocked you. 176!
"I gained twenty-six pounds!?" you nearly shouted. It was not possible to gain 26 pounds with your rigorous exercise regiment and carefully controlled diet. Now it was clicking in your head, maybe there was something to Heather's curse. At this point you were large enough now that your clothes weren't fitting properly and you'd have to buy more for work tomorrow.
The next day, you were determined to confront Ms. Rand about her supposed magic spell. You confidently strode into her office, and what you saw, caught you slightly off-guard. Ms. Rand looked thinner. Well, thinner might be be generous. Instead of being well over 400 pounds, now she looked just slightly under. And her face bore an insidious grin.
"Ms. Rand, what did you do to me?," you demanded.
"So you've finally noticed. The curse is real. I wasn't entirely sure if it worked at first, but I think neither of us can argue with the results." she said smugly, never dropping her grin.
You stared blankly at her for a couple seconds, speechless. "What do you want from me?"
"I want what you stole from my little girl! But also I want to teach you a lesson you won't ever forget."
Having admitted what she's done, you decide what to say next. "I'll tell. I'll tell everyone you used a magic spell to make me fat."
Heather cackled at this. "And who will believe you? That magic is real? All anyone else will notice is you getting fat gradually, the natural way," she said with another smirk.
