Ok so Hermione shrinks you, but why?

1 she wants a pet, either she wasn't allowed to get or something happened to Crookshanks. Now she set her sights on shrinking you to replace him.

2 To protect you from Ginny. Hermione has had a crush on you since you saved her from the troll, when she hears Ginny is going to use love potions to "get the boy who lived" she decides the best course of action to to shrink you and keep you with her and away from Ginny, hopefully also causing you to realise your own feelings for her.

So which one is it?
